I've always struggled with fitness. to such an extent that I think the S in my name actually stands for Sedentary with a capital S.
so, let's come to terms with it now. why do I work out?
my previous motivations were pathetic to look at: maybe I want to look better in my eyes or whoever's eyes if that be. but now, I realize I would work out because of two reasons.
because I want more time
it's a statement that almost automatically and spontaneously contradict its very own self. how do you earn more time when you have to invest time to work out? isn't that a net loss?
in short term, yes. in long term, no.
because you live longer and you have more time in return. putting out 10 minutes every day to gain a decade more of life is such a good deal that many of us have overlooked. because they're busy chasing black fridays without knowing the actual assets are one's time and attention.
but why are they that way? beause society is structured in such a way that makes us believe in the power of money. because that faith is the fuel of the economy.
but say life is a bitch and I die young for whatever reason, that my investment may have no return, what's the point of doing it now? I do it for the quality of the time I have left, as well as chance of surviving that incident. it's definitely going to be higher than when I don't work out.
because movement is beautiful
for some reasons, humans look very different when they're on land and under water. although air is lighter than water, we seem to be carrying an invisible boulder on our mind every day. or maybe it's physically lighter in water due to how gravity works. for whatever reason then, I just want to say I love how we just float when we're in water.
the thing about water is you're around water, there isn't path, there isn't the end that you need to get to to be happy. you're already there, you've arrived.
when you focus more on your movements, you worry less about the past and the present and the future. you just be there at that moment in time, and that's all we ever need.
what are you going to do when every problem on earth has been fixed and you've retired from your job and there's absolutely nothing to worry about? you just be. I think the reason why the Greeks and their architecture are good is down to the fact that they invented the Olympics. if I were a sculptor, I'd definitely gain more inspiration walking in a town where everyone looked hot instead of walking in a world where everyone was overweighted and always on their phones.
I think if you want to work out, you really need to refine your reason.
but for me, I guess I'm working out now.
